The International Shotokan Karate Federation of Colorado and its branch schools are the premier dojos in the Denver area to learn authentic Shotokan Karate. This classical martial art emphasizes the development of good character and respect through the diligent practice of techniques based on sound fundamental body mechanics. As in all true art forms, traditional karate training stresses the building of a solid, basic foundation before moving on to advanced techniques. Our unique program offers overall body conditioning, improved flexibility, practical self-defense, and the development of self-confidence.
Classes at ISKF of Arvada are instructed by Sensei Mark Tarrant, 7th Degree black belt in the prestigious Japan Karate Association. Mr. Tarrant is a protégé of Master Yutaka Yaguchi, 9th Degree Chief Instructor Emeritus of the ISKF of Colorado and a member of the elite class of first-generation JKA instructors sent worldwide to teach real Shotokan Karate.
Mr. Tarrant’s career highlights as a world-class competitor include being two-time individual US National Champion and a member of seven national champion teams.
Mr. Tarrant has also competed internationally as a member of the US Team for ten consecutive years, placing in both individual and team events. Still actively training and coaching, Sensei Tarrant now teaches at ISKF of Arvada, the headquarters of the Mountain States Region and a branch of the International Shotokan Karate Federation.
Upon Master Yaguchi’s retirement in 2016, Mr. Tarrant was personally appointed Chief Instructor of the Mountain States Region. He is also a member of the ISKF Technical Committee, a small group of certified instructors who are responsible for maintaining and advancing the technical standards of the organization.
ISKF of Arvada is located at the Move by Morelli dance studio, 6452 Fig Street, Unit D. (Near 64th and Indiana: 1 block north of 64th, ~ 1/2 mile east of Indiana. Enter Fig St off 65th Ave east of Gardenia.)
